You don't need to be a computer graphics expert to use particleIllusion! A complete beginner can create truly amazing animations in particleIllusion in a matter of minutes. Literally!

Childs Play

Using partlceIllusion really couldn't be simpler. Even if you have never used a graphics program before it makes little difference - partlceIllusion is so easy to use that a child can use it.

Here we introduce you to the partlceIllusion interface and take you through the basics of creating an animation and customising your emitters. Later, we take you into more specific information on using partlceIllusion for different tasks.

The Interface

The Stage Graph Window Library Window Preview Window Heirarchy Window Layers Window

Layers Window : Add, delete, arrange and manipulate layers used in the project. You can load a background image or animation here and set transparency properties.

Heirarchy Window : from here you can control the various aspects of the particle types and the animation functions of an emitter.

The Stage : where you design and arrange your project, adding emitters, deflectors, and blockers. You can preview the a part or the full animation at any time here.

Graph Window : Allows precise control of the various functions of emitters and particles over time, and manipulating the timeline of the entire animation.

Preview Window : The currently selected emitter is displayed here. You can click and drag in this window to get an idea of how the emitter behaves.

Library Window : Shows the list of emitters that you are currently working with. New libraries can be loaded without affecting the emitters already in the project.

In partlceIllusion, you can adjust the sizes of all of these windows to suit your preferences (and desktop!) by moving the mouse over the edge of the dividing line between the windows and simply dragging the divider.
